The Dog Days Aren't Over
The heat in the air is letting us know that the dogs days
aren’t over! The “Dog Days” saying stems
from a Roman invented association of the heat in summer to the star
Sirius. In ancient times the people
believed that the rise of the star so close to sunset caused the weather to be
warmer. They named these times “dog days”
because Sirius is the brightest star of the Canis Major (Large Dog)
constellation. The Dog Days have been
traditionally believed to be an evil time but let’s embrace the summer heat and
do some downward and upwards dogs of our own!
Join us in Happy Hour Yoga tonight where there are yoga dogs, pigeons,
eagles and frogs (poses, not literal animals) and air conditioning!
