Contentment
In Patanjali’s teachings of yoga there are concepts called
Niyamas which provide a suggested set of behaviors to enhance your path to enlightenment.
While this theory may sound daunting the roots and intentions are simple and
attainable. One of the 5 niyamas is “Samtosha”,
meaning contentment. The idea is to find
contentment in what we have, what is now.
Allow ourselves to remember that things are as they are. If you find yourself cringing in your eyes or
gritting your jaw while holding a yoga pose, remind yourself of samtosha. Find that contentment with your practice as
it is and continue with peace and calm.
