Balance
There is more to balance than being able to stand on one
foot. When working with standing
balances it can help to begin by bringing focus within. Find the stability of a mountain pose: shoulders back and down, soft across the
chest, belly button to spine, tailbone slightly tucked to the pubic bone,
grounded in the feet. Then tap in to the
breath. All too often we may fall out of
a balance pose and immediately try to bring ourselves right back to where we
were. Instead, reestablish all your
standing queues, including a drishti (focal point) and you will have increased
success with your balance, or if nothing else, your patience!
