Vinyasa

What is vinyasa?  Vinyasa is the "marriage of  breath and movement".  Vinyasa is the linking of one pose to the next with a serpentine flow.  It combines the physical movement of our bodies with the internal movement of our breath and spirit.  In vinyasa we work toward finding a place where the act of breathing and movement are not separate entities.  Sometimes in class I may say, "take a vinyasa".  When I use this phrase I am referring to the flow from our downward facing dog, through chataranga, into upward facing dog and back to downward dog.  This flow is used in my classes as the repetitive sequence that reinforces our movements syncing with the breath.  Come feel some vinyasa for yourself in class tonight!
