Jnana Mudra
An iconic image often associated with yoga is the cross-legged,
levitating yogi with their middle and thumb fingers touching while resting on
their knees. That particular arrangement
of the hands and fingers is called jnana
mudra. The unification of the thumb
and pointer finger represents the joining of the individual soul and the world
soul. The gesture helps to clear the
mind, enhance focus and concentration.
The jnana mudra is associated with the color white – new beginnings,
birth, unity and peace.
