Third Chakra
The third chakra encompasses energy, self-esteem, ego and
will. It is associated with fire. The third chakra rules the digestive system,
liver, pancreas and metabolism.
Characteristics of an excessive third charka include
attitudes that are dominant, controlling, stubborn, arrogant and
competitive. An underactive third chakra
can result in passivity, lack of energy or motivation, blaming, low self-esteem
and poor discipline. A balance third
chakra will demonstrate confidence, warmth, spontaneity and reliability.
To calm a blazing third chakra one can avoid spicy foods and
stimulants, take time to relax and mediate.
To increase the fire in life a person can take more risks, exercise
vigorously and eat light and simple meals.
Yoga poses that promote balance of the third chakra are abdominal
work, plank pose, body rotations and wheel.
